History of Piraeus Bank in Ukraine

History of the Bank originated in 1994 when the JSC “Bank Levada” was founded. In 1999, after the accession of new shareholders in Ukraine, Austria and the U.S. the bank was renamed as JSC “Commercial International Bank” (ICB). In 2001 the bank was joined by the JSC "Tavriya", which was one of the leading banking institutions in Crimea.

On September, 13, 2007, Piraeus Bank S.A. (Athens , Greece) announced the completion of the acquisition of 99,6% of the share capital of International Commercial Bank. Thus, the bank became a part of a powerful international banking group, Piraeus Bank Group. In 2008 the bank changed its official name to JSC “Piraeus Bank ICB”.

Regional network of Piraeus Bank in Ukraine covers Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa, Kharkiv and Cherkasy regions.

The Bank is authorized by the Pension Fund of Ukraine to make payments of pensions and financial assistance. The Bank is a member of Fund of Guaranteeing the Deposits of Individuals and Forum of Leading International Financial institutions (FLIFI).

March 2015 The Bank entered the TOP-5 banks in Ukraine with the most favorable deposit terms in foreign currency according to “Lichniy schet” business magazine
March 2014 The Bank entered TOP-3 banks in “The Best Internet Banking” nomination according to Kommersant-Ukraine business edition
February 2014 The Bank became the winner in "The Most Innovative Bank" category according to "InvestGazeta" business edition
December 2013 The Bank entered the TOP-3 banks with the most favorable credit card propositions according to “Lichniy schet” business magazine
September 2013 The Bank entered the TOP-20 banks with the most favorable mortgage and car loans terms, as well as credit cards according to “Dengi” business magazine
June 2013 The Bank became one of the 30 most comfortable banks in Ukraine according to “Expert” business magazine
April 2013 The Bank took 17th place among the 75 most reliable banks in Ukraine according to “Expert” business magazine
March 2013 The Bank rated as the most technologically advanced bank of GUAM 
November 2012 The Bank took 2nd place in the annual research "Corporate Site in terms of investors 2012" by the company Investor Relations Agency
November 2012 The Bank rated B4 in an index of high deposits’ reliability
October 2012 The Bank became number 5 on the Investgazeta’s list of the best e-banks of Ukraine
December 2011 The Bank became one of the top three banks among the best employers according to UKRAINIAN BANKER AWARDS 2011
December 2011 The Bank was recognized to be the most dynamic bank in 2011 among the third group of banks volume of assets by influential business magazine "InvestGazeta”
September 2011 The Bank started cooperation with the international payment system MasterCard
September 2011 The Bank’s registered share capital increased to UAH 1.628 bln
March 2011 Bank became a member of the Forum of the leading international financial institutions (FLIFI)
June 2010 Bank has crossed the threshold of UAH 1 billion of deposit funds
July 2010 Bank entered the "TOP 10 Banks trusted by investors," according to theranking of the Banker magazine
March 2009 Bank was assigned the highest rating of deposits (grade "5") from the rating agency "Credit Rating"
June 2008 The Bank's credit rating was revised upward to uaA
June 2007 Bank received a credit rating uaBBB + (stable) according to the national scale
January 2008 Bank changed its official name to JSC "Piraeus Bank ICB”
