Completion ceremony of the English course for veterans by Piraeus Bank
12 May 2026

American University Kyiv, together with Piraeus Bank, is pleased to announce the completion of the first cohort of the English language course for veterans under the English Language Upskilling Program for Ukrainian Veterans. This initiative is designed to support military personnel, security sector employees, and veterans in improving their English language proficiency to the B1 level.

Participants completed thematic modules and actively practiced conversational English, enabling them to discuss real-life situations and collaborate in teams. This cohort comprised 15 participants, and two in-person meetups were held for networking and socializing.

Iryna Stakhurska, a member of the Board of Directors at Piraeus Bank, noted that presenting certificates to veterans is a milestone that signifies not only the completion of their studies but also the beginning of a new chapter of growth and opportunity.

"It is a great honor for us to be part of this initiative and to personally congratulate the veterans on this achievement. Today's event is not just about certificates — it is about strength, perseverance, and the readiness to move forward. You have already done so much for the country, and today you continue to grow, unlock new opportunities, and invest in your own future."

She further added that Piraeus Bank takes pride in its veterans and considers supporting such initiatives a vital aspect of its corporate social responsibility.

Program participant Heorhii Zaitsev shared his reflections by quoting: "The limits of my language mean the limits of my world" — underscoring the importance of language skills in broadening one's horizons.

Piraeus Bank plans to continue supporting projects aimed at the development, education, and reintegration of veterans into civilian life.

Congratulations to all participants on this achievement, and best wishes for continued success!
