Piraeus has reached an important milestone in its sustainability journey: MSCI ESG Ratings has upgraded the Group’s ESG rating to the highest possible level — “AAA”, up from “AA”. Currently, only 18% of banks assessed globally by MSCI hold this top rating, highlighting the significance of the achievement.

This upgrade reflects a long-term and consistent effort to integrate sustainability, transparency, and strong corporate governance into all aspects of banking operations. In 2020, Piraeus’ ESG rating stood at “BBB”. Today, Piraeus is the only Greek company to achieve the “AAA” MSCI ESG rating, demonstrating measurable progress over time rather than short-term improvement.

As ESG criteria increasingly influence capital allocation, investor decisions, and stakeholder trust, the upgraded rating underscores Piraeus’ commitment to responsible growth and the creation of long-term value for clients, partners, and communities.

Commenting on the achievement, Yannis Kyriakopoulos, Chairman of the Management Board of Piraeus Bank Ukraine, said:
