The meeting was hosted by Walter Gordon, Chairman of the Chamber Board of Directors and Jorge Zukoski, Chamber President, who highlighted the Chamber's key accomplishments in 2013, reconfirmed the support of the business community that the Chamber represents for Ukraine’s European choice and the Chamber’s readiness to go the extra mile to help the Government to adapt Ukrainian legislation and regulations so that companies will be able to effectively access the European market.
Chamber Members and Partners had an excellent opportunity to get exclusive information on reforms, the economy and the business environment in 2014 from Iryna Akimova, First Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of Ukraine. In her remarks, I. Akimova thanked the Chamber for its involvement and great contribution to creating a favorable business climate in Ukraine. "During 20 years of its operations in Ukraine the Chamber has become a powerful player of Ukraine's business environment and it now unites over 600 Member companies, one third thereof originating from Ukraine. During the years of its operations, the Chamber has become a true partner for the Ukrainian Government in all questions crucial for conducting business and investing in Ukraine," stated I. Akimova.
Olexander Klymenko, Minister of Revenue and Duties of Ukraine also visited the event and continued with highlighting the key results of mutually beneficial cooperation between the Chamber and the Ministry of Revenue and Duties. "We are very grateful to the Chamber for our joint work during adoption and implementation of the Tax Code, Customs Code and a number of other important legislative acts, aimed at increasing the transparency of the tax and customs system of Ukraine", added O. Klymenko.
W. Gordon presented the key achievements of the Chamber in 2013, emphasizing the importance of Membership's active involvement in providing high level expertise and constructive feedback for the Chamber to constantly develop the mix of value added Membership benefits to even better suit the needs of Chamber Members.
Following the official ceremony, all guests were invited to learn more about the specific work of Chamber's Committees and Working Groups and see where and how they can get more involved for the benefit of their businesses. Enjoying senior level Business Networking, guests had an opportunity to get personally acquainted with the new 2014 Board of Directors and find new partners among the vast and diverse Chamber Membership.
Yannis Kyriakopoulos, Piraeus Bank in Ukraine Head of Supervisory Board, Vyacheslav Koval, Acting Chairman of the Board, and Ilias Mouzakis, Retail banking director, were present on the event. Apart from representatives of the Management Board the Branch Manager of the bank’s outlet informed the participants with a wide range of financial services and products of the Bank, as well as the activities of the Piraeus Bank Group in Ukraine.
Apart from Piraeus Bank the Annual General Membership Meeting was sponsored by OKKO filling complexes network and Ukrplastik – a producer of packaging products.
